What you praise is who you are
The most important qualities in a workplace are rarely loud.
They are not titles or status
They are qualities like being a giver, humility, empathy, accountability, etc.
These are the traits that make people feel safe. They are the reasons we trust someone.
This exercise is about identifying and honoring those qualities, specifically, where you saw someone demonstrate good character in the workplace.
We are not looking for general praise.
We are looking for real moments that reveal character.
Directions:
For each trait listed below:
1. Think of a specific person in your workplace who demonstrates this quality.
2. Describe what happened.
Avoid general statements like:
• “They’re just a great person.”
• “They’re always supportive.” Instead, describe a moment
Example structure:
A. During the brainstorm, my coworker Steven made sure to highlight the good ideas from the introverts on the team.
B. When I struggled to understand the task, my manager calmly explained to me several times until I got it, without showing any frustration.
